Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the difference between a clinical massage and a "regular" massage?
A clinical massage will address a specific pain, injury, or related tissue. The clinical massage starts with going over medical history, health, and injury background. We then move to a variety of assessments and relevant tests. Results and an evaluation are used as a benchmark to monitor progress and pain levels. A regular massage provides more general full body work without a specific goal or treatment in mind other than to relax or alleviate general tension.
  • What do you wear to a clinical massage treatment, or to any treatment at CTM?
We ask that clients wear workout clothes, including a sports bra, tank top, loose fitting t-shirt, or relaxed gym shorts. We don’t recommend very tight fitting undergarments (including sports bra) or leggings. Any type of clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in is acceptable.
  • Will I have to remove clothing to receive a clinical massage?
Usually not, but it depends on what we are working on. We are trained to work over clothing
  • Are any of these treatments painful?
This is not a "no pain, no gain" treatment style. We will work on or around tender spots which can be uncomfortable, but we will always work with you and your body's response to keep it as pain-free as possible.
  • Are any of these treatments covered by insurance?
Typically these treatments are not covered by insurance.. However, we do accept FSA and HSA cards. Please check with your insurance provider to determine if coverage is available.
